The Line Up 2014

Barbara Bully-Thomas

Writer, Vocalist

Barbara Bully-Thomas is Dominican born singer-songwriter and teacher. She has been living in St. Lucia for the past 10 years and calls this island her "second home". Barbara has travelled extensively and has always immersed herself in the music of the various countries that she has lived in and has often been asked to perform. She has written songs in both English and Creole since she was in high school and in the past, she was the lead singer of the still strong "Swinging Stars" band of Dominica. Her last CD is entitled "Creole, Christmas and Jazz" of which she wrote 6 of the 7 songs. These songs are all delivered in a refreshing style, each with surprisingly different musical tempos. Two of her songs feature both Ronald "Boo" Hinkson and Rob Zi Taylor of St. Lucia.

Best of all, Barbara loves singing jazz and this is what she we will bring to this year's Jazz Sampler when she will perform her two latest jazz songs, "Change my Mind" and a creole jazz number entitled "Lavi Dou" both arranged by St. Lucia's master saxophonist Luther Francois. Barbara hopes to go on to perform at the Dominica Creole Jazz Festival in May, 2014.
